I've been working and researching on these 'Apple ][ and IIgs Freeware
Development Concepts' listed below. Some are under development and some are
simply concepts. I'd like to get your feedback, comments, suggestions and
thoughts on them. I'd also like to hear from anybody that's interested in
working on any of them using their specific skills with respect to the
development of any of the list below.
(1) An IIgs application and/or HyperCard GS stack to convert PDF files to text
by
extracting the text from them and saving it in a standard text file format. The
PDF format is used on both the PC and Mac platforms, with the Adobe Acrobat
program and the Acrobat Reader program.
(2) An IIgs application and/or HyperCard GS stack to convert jpeg and gif files
to
the IIgs' SHR graphic file formats supporting 256 colors.
(3) A HyperCard GS stack that would deprotect and/or remove a password from any
HyperCard GS stack. Simply put, a HCGS 'MagicKey' stack - functional in the
same
way as the HyperStudio 'MagicKey' stack developed and released by Clayburn.
(4) A HyperCard GS stack to convert HyperCard GS stacks <-> HyperStudio GS
stacks. Limitations would be expected with such conversions but, if the basic
stack contents could be properly converted, the stack designer could enhance
and
add to the converted stack as they wished.
(5) A HyperCard GS stack that would play MODfiles in a JukeBox fashion.
(6) A HyperCard GS stack and/or Apple II specific platform application - that
would allow; display, present a tutorial and teach the user Mandarin Chinese -
as
an interactive course on Mandarin - containing all you need to learn to speak,
read, and write Chinese.
(7) A HyperCard GS stack and/or Apple II specific platform application - that
would allow; display, present a tutorial and teach the user Kanji Japanese -
as
an interactive course on Kanji - containing all you need to learn to speak,
read,
and write Japanese.
Please post and/or email your thoughts, comments and suggestions on any or all
of the above. I think they would all make very nice and useful additions for
the
Apple II and IIgs users.
Cheers,
Tom
