   RFC=Request For Comments-- the way standards were set out for the
internet (well, before commercial companies decided to act like they
owned things and do things without asking anyone). Put out a draft
document, collect comments, and when done, it lays down a 'standard'
of some sort. [Not all RFCs are real standards, some are April 1
posts, others may be attendance at a meeting or anything
else].

    IIRC=If I recall correctly.
