I was able to use lynx v2.8 to attend a chat on Delphi, and was also able to 
access a number of secure servers using the latest version of lynx. But, as 
others have pointed out, that wasn't with the standard release version 
of lynx.

A patch first needs to be applied to lynx before it can be used as a 
secure browser.
