DOS WAS the operating system for the old Apple machines. This
abbreviation of 'Disk Operating System' has been used by Apple since
1978, long before the first IBM pc (pc was also an abbreviation used by
Apple) entered the market.

An Apple //e uses DOS 3.3 or ProDOS 1.x.
