The program "Cut&Paste" is not in our collection; but, it does show
up in a listing of software for which there are Copy II+ parms-- that
is, your C&P diskette is likely to be copy-protected. This would explain
the I/O error when you did a CATALOG and "damaged sectors" when you
checked it with Copy II+.
Just trying a DOS 3.3 CATALOG should not damage a diskette. It may
have ceased booting if the R/W head in the boot drive has become dirty
and/or there has been a slip in your drive speed adjustment.
Try cleaning the heads (e.g. by using a Radio Shack Head Cleaner
disk) in your drives and use Copy II+'s VERIFY-- SPEED to check Speed
for each drive. Use a blank diskette or one you do not mind having
erased to check Speed.
If Copy II+ shows a drive's speed as between 199 and 201, it is
okay. (To adjust Speed, you may have to remove the drive case to get to
the speed adjustment-- usually, a small pot with a screw adjustment near
the back right side of the drive.)
Cleaning the heads could make a big difference and some
copy-protected diskettes are very speed sensitive; so, the above may fix
the problem. Another try is to make several boot attempts. Some
diskettes do not always 'catch' on the first boot try.
Once your drives are cleaned and Speed is verified as okay, you may
be able to obtain a better copy of C&P using Copy II+'s Bit Copy -- Auto
Copy. This requires that your version of Copy II+ have the parms for
"CUT & PASTE". If it does, try making a copy. Fresh copies often work
better than old originals.
