Long, long ago, there was a program named HigherText, that ran under DOS
3.3.
Later, I wrote something like that that ran under Basic.System, which
tried to be as transparent as possible to a BASIC program. It supported
40 columns and 80 columns (on HGR, resp DHGR), MouseText etc.
If you're interested, I can see if I can find it (and the docs!).
