If you have access to an EPROM programer changing just one character should not
be too much of a job. Back when there were several companies selling 80 column
cards for Apple IIs and II+s, some of the cards came with empty chip sockets
and instructions on how the Apple II used the character generater ROM and how
to program your own to design your own custom character set.
