Just bought a RamFast and a TMS Shadow harddrive, which the owner
reports were working fine just a few months ago on a IIGS. The RamFast
comes up OK, but I may have a problem with the harddrive. You can hear
the drive spin up, and the access light comes on, but it spins down in
about 10 seconds (power saver, maybe?). Doesn't sound excessively noisy
when it spins up.
Anyway, the RamFast reports the drive mechanism as a Quantum CTS40S and
correctly reports the SCSI ID (the drive is supposedly internally
terminated), but shows no size, and lists: Cylinders 0, Sectors/Tracks
0, Heads 0, bad sectors 0. Ramfast reports "This drive is formatted
with a block size that is non-standard. You need to do a format before
you can use the drive with the RamFast SCSI." When I invoke "Format",
nothing happens.
I tried the drive daisy-chained to another working RamFast/Harddrive on
my other GS, and got exactly the same thing. Before I report to the
seller that the drive is toast, can anybody else suggest something?
Thanks.
