That is correct.  Nathan asked me what scsi card I had and Mitch remembered 
that there was some problem with 6.0 and 6.01 and mentioned the use of older 
drivers.

At first I tried just the CMS.DRIVER but it still did not recognize the hard 
drive.  Then I noticed that the two files in the SYSTEM/DRIVERS folder on the 
6.01 Install disk were identical in name to the two files on the CMS Utility 
disk.  So I replaced those two - SCSI.Manager and SCSIHD.Driver on the 6.01 
Install disk with those from the CMS Utility Disk.

The installation process moved both those files into the system/drivers folder 
on the hard drive for me, since the names were identical.  (I checked just now 
and the CMS files  are dated 1989 and 1990, so they are a bit older than the 
6.01 files, which are dated 1993.)  But they work! :)
