Re: Wozniak vs Jobs

Regnirps <regnirps@aol.com> spawned virtual particles writing:
: Very good. You have identified, perhaps unknowingly, the clasic Apple marketing
: blunder that has always been dominated by the Steve Jobs personality quirk.
: Namely, the idea that after you have been selling something, you do not use
: your initial position (like say desktop publishing in the case of the Mac) as a
: wedge for expanding into broader areas (like say corporate or financial or
: CAD/CAM computing). Instead you have to invent "The Next Great Thing" or a "New

Very good.. Most people haven't identified this yet.. :)

: P.S. Anybody who tells you a 4 MHz 65816 outruns an 8 MHz 68000 (original Mac)
: is out of their friggin mind.

Well, in the raw form in a chip tester. But, if you plugged a 8MHz 68000
into a Mac and a 4MHz 65816 into a GS, you would get the GS going faster
because of the slow bus synchronization in Mac. 4 cycles to fetch a word,
for 8 a longword.. come on! The 65816 in a GS can fetch in 2/4 cycle time
(ignoring code fetching, decoding, execution time) ..
