The problem is that bombing into the monitor is like what happens
when a plane crashes in the jungle. You end up staring out at the jungle
but you have no idea how messed up the plane might be. The odds are that
something important is damaged and that a takeoff attempt will fail (or
that, once airborne, something bad will happen).
It seems unlikely that any CDA would help much. One try is to exit
the monitor to BASIC and type in BYE. If ProDOS is still hooked up, you
may get back to the Finder.
There is always some risk in restarting a crashed system this way,
both in the restart and in the system once restarted. It is best to
reboot.
When a GS equipped with an accelerator experiences frequent crashes
into the monitor which are not clearly related to a particular piece of
software, the usual explanations are
1. the accelerator is over-clocked for the microprocessor or RAM;
2. there are serious noise spikes on the Slot power lines.
