While it is true that the GS is better in the color department, I can't help
but be impressed with the resolution the c128 is capable of. 800x600,
even if it is in two colors, is impressive....
I am not clear on something....can the c128 display these high resolutions
on the regular RGBI monitor that it normally uses?
I was wondering why the GS can't have a video upgrade like the c128
16k to 64k video memory upgrade. Like the c128, the GS has a video
chip (called the VGC) socketed on the motherboard. Can't some kind
of video memory upgrade go there?
The GS sometimes uses tricks to get good looking video too. It has
a palette of 4096 colors, but it can only display 16 of these per line.
In 3200 color pictures, the GS is loading a different 16 color palette
for every scan line. That's the trick behind many of the impressive
looking screenshots. A video memory upgrade would boost colors
per line to 256.
