I can't find anything definitive about whether the enhanced IIe firmware
tests RAM on an extended 80-column card, but I came across an Apple tech
support article which implies that at least the original IIe firmware
didn't, as it reports RAM faults by indicating the motherboard location
of the RAM chip.

What is the error message displayed by the diagnostic test?

The obvious thing to do is to remove the extended 80-column card and try
the diagnostic test again. If it passes then the RAM fault is almost
certainly on the card.
