Re: Wolf 3D
Randy said back to Supertimer:

| thanks, I'll wait until : it shows up on a Seven Hills product
SSN| Sounds like someone in dire need of having people refuse to

Are we still talking about Wolf3D or did I miss a turn?
My 2c: If someone puts a program up on their personal website or FTP,
no hinderances to the public's ability to nab it from there, then it IS
up for grabs. Just because someone doesn't put a program on a binaries
group or send it to other FTP's (can you say "product control"?) does
not mean that someone's guarding their wares. Do you expect to
download other companies' products from the general arena every time,
or do you first go to the companies' websites for it? Is Nathan Mates
a fascist for (initially) making a version of GUPP available only from
places he specifies -- Delphi or his own WWW/FTP -- which are by no
means hard to get to? From where I stand, I wouldn't want to see
Wolf3D available on every public FTP. Suppose there were a bug. A
real one, not a pre-existing OS bug. If it's just on Sheppy's site, he
can retract the program, fix, and repost. If it's everywhere, not only
does every public FTP lose 1.7 megs of space (because few sites are
kept up to date and weeded out, I've noticed) for every version, but a
person may never know which of the one on the list is the most current
and which ones are defective. And as for using CBA2 for Wolf -- let's
see, it's 1.7 megs shrunk so how how big would that be in binscii? ACK!

Software (no WWW/FTP so we use pub/CBA2
thus several v's of 2qwk/BSCIt float...)
