Re: Apple IIgs Memory Card - 4 MB Modification

Does anyone have any experience on performing this modification? I am new to
soldering.

I certainly don't want to discourage you, but I'd recommend getting some
practice on something that doesn't matter much before attempting this
modification.

Soldering is a skill that takes some practice, and within a couple of
hours, you will observe that your skill improves significantly. Before
starting and about 30-45 minutes into your practice, review one of the
excellent tutorial on electronic soldering on the web. (It will make
a lot more sense the second time around. ;-) Here's a good one:

ALWAYS use a low-power iron (15-30 watts, max, temperature-controlled
ideally) and (non-acid) fluxed solder of small diameter (wire gauge 26-
28). I prefer rosin core tin-lead solder for electronic work, but there
are other flux and alloy choices available. Just be sure to avoid any
ACID core solder--that will destroy component leads and circuit traces.
