Did you know that the Advanced Disk Utilities also locks out bad sectors?
ADU is a little tricky to use, but if you own the manuals, you'll find out
some kewl tricks.

According to documentation, ADU first looks at the GS System drivers
folder for a Macintosh capatible driver to install in said partition. Now if
the disk is an Apple brand disk, such as the old 20 meg one that came
out around the time of the GS, ADU checks for the Apple ROM on the
drive and upon verification installs ADU's own copy of the Mac driver in
the drive. If the drive is not an Apple brand drive, a Mac driver has to be
in the GS System folder for Mac capatibility. There is also a third party
freeware program that rips out ADU's Mac driver and transfers it to the
GS System folder for use with third party drives. All this is pretty well
documented if you care to look for it. Just go to grind server's mirror
of ground and use the search feature or look for it in Apple's or QC's
System 6.x manuals (QC had one that covers ADU, Synthlab, and
other features that you could order after you bought the general one).
