This error message has nothing to do with Nathan's GUPP patches.  You 
are suffering from the Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc fallacy (after this 
therefore because o fthis).  I had that error show up long before 
GUPP.  

It indicates that the Finder maintined icon file has been corrupted.  
Delete that file and it will go away.
