Jim Poore ----- he smoked the IWM chip by plugging a 400k oldest drive
into a IIc ------- I have heard of this, but have avaoided attaching the
400K oldest Mac drive into any II.
I do know that the Apple II is not harmed by the short Mac 400 _cable_ by
itself.
In the past week, I attached a short oldest Mac db-19 cable SUCCESSFULLY
to a platinum 3.5 800K drive, and it works good.
In the past week, I tried a cable from the slimline beige Mac 800k
no-eject-button drive, on a 5.25" drive ----- just spins, but no smoke or
damage.
The IDE-20 plug on the oldest db-19 Mac cable looks like it can be
reconfigured.
David Empson: One reader said you can explain why some oldest Mac db-19
cables work and others do not. Please tell!
Lets make these cables compatible so that I can attach them to
Bugg-Drives. (Have made about 40-45 Bugg-Drive enhanced Disk II drives so
far!)
