Re: TCP/IP connection
In article sebastio@joynet.it (David Sebastio) writes...

Nope, and to my knowledge, there are no plans to write one for
any of the existing 8-bit Apple II computers. Considering TCP/IP
was written for the Commodore 64, I would imagine it being quite
feasible to write though.
>and for the apple ][gs?
Yes, there are two being worked on actually -- GS/TCP which
runs under GNO/ME (the preemptive multitasking Unix-like shell)
and Marinetti, an independent and freeware GS/OS Control Panel.
Marinetti is currently of limited use, it only supports SLIP
and comes with a demo telnet application (no other applications
have been released yet). A new version should be out by spring
though which will support PPP, and even better news, a whole new
slew of applications are being worked on to support it (POP3 mail
program, an FTP client, Usenet newsreader, web browser and more).
The beta version with SLIP support can be downloaded right now.
GS/TCP promises just as much (maybe more because of the true
mulititasking GNO offers) but is progressing very slowly, to the
point development may have been put on hold. No one knows when or
if it will be ready for release, pretty much the reason the other
TCP/IP project above was started. When I spoke to the author back
in the summer about a release date, his response was "one of these
days". GS/TCP is commercial and not yet publicly available.
