Look inside 'Demo.bnk' (included with synthLAB) and you'll find
"Lead Guitar" and "Guitar 5ths" -- these are probably the closest to
a distortion guitar in an already existing instrument bank. If you
listen to 'ShortDemo.Seq' that originally appeared on the original
APDA release of synthLAB (version 1.0b2), it demonstrates the two
towards the end of the sequence, complete with pitch bends.

Have a look at ftp://ground.isca.uiowa.edu/apple2/apple16/Music
and you should find a couple of different custom made instrument
banks for MIDIsynth. A couple to look for: 'Europe.bnk', 'MIDI.bnk',
'InstF.bnk', 'InstA.bnk', 'GrandPiano.bnk', 'Jazz.bnk', 'MT32.bnk'.
