: I haven't heard anyone who is saying the Apple II is a viable commercial

Got my copy of SuperConvert 4.0 last week. Brand new version, bought from
Seven Hills. Ewen Wannop is starting work on Spectrum 2.2, which should
incorporate Telnet capabilities into the program itself, instead of via an
XCMD. Richard Bennett, besides his freeware work on Marinetti, is planning
an upgrade to GraphicWriter III. Mike Westerfield is plugging away at a
new GS programming language (GSoft). Steve Cavanaugh, Hangtime, and a few
other people bring out new (commercial) Hypercard stacks in a quarterly
collection. Nathan Mates is working on an update to Twilight II. I think
it is safe to say that these people would be less motivated (not
necessarily completely _un_motivated, but less) if their only reward for
the effort was a warm glow of satisfaction in a job well done. And without
our few remaining commercial developers, new releases would probably slow
to about the speed of the completed Wolfenstein 3D. (No dig at Sheppy for
that. But if the work were for pay, we would have had it a long time ago).
