Re: MAME For IIGS?
This is directed to Apple II users in general.
Yes, the number of developers has dwindled but there is still a lot of
work being done. It is just being done in people's spare time and
even when they talk about their work, it isn't mentioned here in
comp.sys.apple2 for a number of reasons I won't go into.
The center of Apple II information for many years has been Genie and
lately it has been transferring to Delphi because of Genie being too
expensive. You can even get a free web access account to Delphi
(doesn't include file libraries) or you can get a telnet account for
just $35 US a year (full access).
Myself, I am currently developing a POP3/SMTP e-mail program for the
IIgs using Marinetti and have plans for several other net programs in
the works. I'm hoping to have at least my e-mail program ready for
release when the new version of Marinetti comes out. I have been
talking about this occasionally in chat on Delphi but haven't felt the
need to mention it here because almost everyone I see posting messages
here I've also seen on Delphi.
I'll certainly try to keep people informed about what I am doing here
but you'll certainly get a lot more information from Delphi or Genie
about a lot more than what I'm working on.
Don't fret, developers are still out here and new ones pop up from
time to time as well. Hell, I didn't release my first program until
last year and it was only in BASIC. This year will be much more
productive for me. Hint: I also have plans for several other
programs that I've wanted to write for years and I'm hoping to get at
them this year as well.
Boy, do I know how to ramble or what? :-)
