That was the main difference that sets them apart, the Apple II Plus
came shipped with Applesoft ROMs which filled all six firmware sockets:
'F8' through 'D0' (the 'F8' ROM had autostart code in it as well). The
original Apple II came shipped with Integer ROMs, filling, I believe,
only four sockets: 'F8' through 'E0' (this 'F8' had no autostart code).
I'm still missing the Integer 'F8' ROM for my Apple II. :/

The keyboard was also changed at roughly the same time as the II
Plus' introduction. Instead of everything on one keyboard PCB, they
moved it to two and had the 'RESET/CTRL-RESET' switch added to the
second board. The older keyboard also had a raised "POWER" light,
which looked like a regular key but could not be pressed. There were
also revisional changes made to the motherboard as time went on, but
the motherboard never went through any major _functional_ revisions
throughout the II and II Plus' life span (the only exception was
the revision '0' board, when the '1' was released there were quite
a few significant changes).

Of course the word "Plus" in small green italics was added to
the sticker plate when the II Plus came out. :) In any case, there
are at least 9 known revisions to the motherboard, going through
820-0001-00 to 820-0044-D.
