As several people have mentioned, it would help to know what cards we're
talkin'. Also as people have pointed out, most of the cards which are likely
to be in there will at best only duplicate built in functionality, and may
not work at all.

First step: ignore anyone who tells you that it's hard to do, because it
simply is not. Second thing to do is get hold of a Mac app named ProTYPE.
It's on the ground FTP site. The readme file for ProTYPE will tell you why
you want to use it to help convert files you download.

What you want to do next depends on what you already have. If you have a
functioning setup with 6.0.1 running and you use localtalk on your Mac,
connecting the IIgs to your localtalk network and using file sharing is
hands down the best way to transfer files. You can just get another
localtalk box for the IIgs and connect it to your network, then install
Appleshare on the IIgs and enable file sharing on the Mac and share away.
If you use a direct connect printer and hence your printer port is in use,
then sneakernet is the best way. You'll get best results if you use HFS
formatted disks, as these seem less susceptible to any problems with 800K
disks, in my experience at least.

If you don't have 6.0.1 running on your IIgs, get it. There's no reason not
to be running it. You can get Disk Copy images of the install disks from
ftp.info.apple.com, and Disk Copy will write these directly to 800K disks
for installing on the IIgs.
