On the contrary:

There's already been court cases (in Australia at least) of defamation of
character that have been faught and won over Internet postings. My opinion
is that it's about time the law finally grappled with this problem. So
be warned: accusing Dr. Tom or anyone else of piracy can be considered 
defamation of character *IF* you have no proof... and be honest. How many
of you do have incontravertable proof. As Tom points out, I haven't heard
of any court case against him yet, so all we *technically* have is the
*claims* that he pirated Convert3200. 

[Whether I believe that that's true or true is immaterial, it the law's
opinion that matters].

So, accusing him of piracy, of plagarizing material, being a drug
addict (yes I still remember Nathan's spams), IS Slander/Defamanation, and
Tom could quite possible have a solid basis for a suit.
