Half-dead duodisk
I was able to buy a duodisk rather cheaply. Hooked it up to my trusty
//e via home-baked cable, and naturally, it doesn't work :).
The drive 2 works just dandy, so I think I got the wiring right. But
the drive 1 seems to have a problem. If booted, it just spins
indefinitely. If catalogued, the head moves to the track 0 (IIRC?)
and vibrates forever. Lots of rattle noise from a sector editor too;
interestingly, it *does* read/write reliably where it can.
I think I've localized the source to the bare unit (i.e. without the
analog board), as the problem stays with the same unit even after
swapped with the working one.
What could be the problem? Would it be something I can fix at home?
