Re: Apple //e keyboard problem

this keyboard switch discussion has me wondering, just how many different
switches did apple use on the II's? Usually when i nab a 2e, the keys are
just fine, but i've also managed to collect a number of II+'s, which seem
to be a real problem.

the thing with the II+'s is that about 75%-80% of the ones i find have at
least one broken keyswitch. (the shaft typically breaks.) This wouldn't
be a real problem if II+'s all used the same keyswitches; i could cannabalize
one to save the others. Here's the II+ problem: i've collected three II+'s,
and each one has a different style of keyswitch!

Fortunately, the IIe keyswitch(es) seem to be far more rugged, but the II+
situation has me wondering, if a switch *does* break, will it be the same
thing all over again?

a relatively esoteric question, i admit :)
