No, the (platinum) Apple 3.5 will not work on the Apple IIc
and there are no conventional modifications you could apply to
change that. Assuming you have at least the second ROM revision
of the Apple IIc or higher ("PRINT PEEK (64447)" reports '0',
'3' or '4') then you can use a UniDisk 3.5.
The UniDisk 3.5 looks similar to the Apple 3.5, but is white
in color and LED and eject button are raised slightly above the
disk slot. Both drives share the same 800K Sony mechanism, but
the UniDisk 3.5 has extra logic inside such as a 65C02, memory
buffer and ROM firmware, making it an "intelligent" drive. This
is the only 3.5 drive that can communicate with an Apple IIc
(minus the Apple IIc Plus, but that is a different machine).
