How about this for an idea...
How about an IDE drive controller that can talk to the SmartPort? My
thought is to put an itty bitty hard drive (such as a Focus-type drive)
into a //c. Sure, it would be slower than a 'proper' HD interface, but it
would still be faster than the 5.25" floppy. And more important, it would
provide a space big enough (20Mb would be more than plenty) to hold the OS
and applications, even most of the data that one would need...
A suitably clever person could probably come up with such a thing...it
would work on both the //c and on the GS, though on the GS it would be a
bit pointless as the Focus or a decent SCSI drive would be much faster...
Just a thought...Unfortunately, I don't know enough about either IDE or
SmartPort to do anything about this idea...
