I have a never registered copy of the Applelink Personal Edition software for
the Apple II. As you may know, AOL started out as a joint venture between
Quantum and Apple and was named ALPE. When Apple pulled out it was renamed AOL.
The software wasn't free and mailed to everyone under the sun then, it cost
like $37 or so. I got a free copy at San Fran '88 Applefest. I was too broke
to register it so it was never used.
I also know people who beta tested it, when it was code named Samuel. I had
some sign up forms to be a beta tester but they never made it to me at school.
Those were the days, when I had connections and the II was still commercially
viable.
