I reply: It seems to just have to many anon. users at the time I checked 
it out.  The limit was noted at 50.  I doubt it's gone, just very , very 
busy.  In any event, if it ever does vanish for any reason, the host of 
the ftp site has it all backed up on his zip drive and I've made it 
clear to him I'd be happy to mirror it all on my own ftp site, if ever 
needed.

So, all is safe.  Give it a try later on and see what happens.
