Only a few exotic disk drive controllers (e.g., Multi-Kache) can run the
platinum gray 3.5 drive on the IIe.

Suggest that you get this:

Apple Liron 3.5 drive controller
and 
Unidisk 3.5 drive, white casing.

The card sells on the net for about $15, and the Unidisk white 3.5 drive
for about $35.   These items are rare, therefore expensive....

(Sorry, I am not selling mine!   Mine are cherished; and will be buried
with me in my casket, eventually!)     8-)
