   Forget trying to use the graphical control panels if they're not
loading and use the builtin text one. Hit control-open apple-escape
after boot (or hold down option on poweron) to go to the text control
panel, and tweak the ramdisk from there. If you have a ROM 3, you can
set the 'Resize after reset' flag and reboot to get the new
size. Otherwise, for a ROM 00/01, you n eed to set the new size and
either selftest (ctrl-open apple-option-reset) or power off to get the
new size.
