Following up the controversy over the recent Intel grants to colleges (of
which perhaps Yale is the most famous in the Mac community), I came across
an interesting unconfirmed tidbit on a Rhapsody mailing list:

Apparently, at least -some- of the grants stipulate that nothing but
Microsoft OSs be run on the Intel boxes covered in the grant. Apart from
the obvious monopolistic implications (since the grants are from Intel and
not MS), I find the resulting restrictive educational environment
disturbing. Part of being educated is, and should be, exposure to
diversity, and this undermines that.
