I accidentally stumbled upon something very interest on the Ground
FTP site which I feel is worth mentioning. If you follow the directory
path: ftp://ground.isca.uiowa.edu/apple2/upload/Oct97, you'll find a
small archived called "Boink 1.1". This is a small demo written back
in 1994 (incidentally, I've _never_ seen or heard of it until now) by
Teaser, of Once Software in France (the same person who did Plotting).
What it is is an Apple IIgs version of the well-known "Boing Demo"
on the Amiga, the thing with the rotating multi-sided red and white
checked ball bouncing from side to side. This version is _excellent_,
it is just as smoothly animated (if not more so) than the Amiga one,
and even sports a large background Apple logo which it moves over and
even casts a shadow on! (and of course stereo sound effects ;)
It is quite professionally done (despite the simplicity), I really
haven't seen anything this high quality since the last time Ninjaforce
or Brutal Deluxe's last released anything. That is to say, something
that really screams "GS"! :) Out of curiosity, does anyone know of
more software written by this Teaser from France? I would *really*
like to see more of his programming...
