So let me get this straight--you would have preferred doing it all by
hand on a *typewriter*, instead?  Then why didn't you???  Give me a
break.  And please don't give me this "but I should have had a hard
drive" excuse.  Back then, even a tiny hard drive (20-30 meg) was
horribly expensive and your school was obviously on a budget.
Businesses that needed hard drives during the mid-1980s were lucky
enough to have them--and not all did.  I worked for a local university
in 1984 and had no hard drive whatsoever on the old IBM pc they had me
work on.  All data was stored on 5.25 floppies.

So consider yourself very fortunate, even though you complain of
hardship with the above setup.  You at least HAD computers in school; I
went through all schooling, including college--with none.  They weren't
invented yet.
