SCSI voodoo question...
I just added "Comet" to my system, an Apple HD40SC that I picked up a long
time ago. I also changed the ID of my SCSI card to #2, so now my machine
boots properly on the first try. Thanks to whoever it was who suggested
that trick!
Anyway, Comet is a repurposed Macintosh drive. I connected it to the
system and re-booted, and immediately got a message that it was "damaged"
and had to be initialized or ejected. As I didn't need any of the
information on that drive, I formatted it HFS, using the Finder.
I have not yet stored anything on the disk. But when I open its window,
there is a notation that 630k of the disk is already in-use.
Okay. This was a Macintosh disk, and I formatted it HFS. Now there is
630k already in use, which is a lot more space than housekeeping
information usually needs. Is that the mysterious Macintosh driver that I
need if I ever want to access this drive from a Mac? Or do I need to do
something else to get that?
Just wondering...As this is a 40Mb external drive, I could potentially use
Comet for moving stuff between Macintoshes and the GS that won't fit onto
800k floppies...
