    I agree, it is very unlikely anyone would be able to fill up 
over 1,000 megabytes on an Apple IIgs system (and if you did, it
would be with an unusual number of large generic data files like 
WAV, MOD, GIF, JPEG, MID, etc). I made the mistake of purchasing
a 700 MB hardrive 2 years back, and ended up letting about 70% 
of it go to waste more or less. Needless to say, I was almost
kind of glad that it had to be sent back under warranty and got
upgraded to a larger drive which I put to good use on my PC.

    My advice is never get anything smaller than 120 MB, yet do
not purchase anything larger than 300 MB (unless you have a need 
for more space, which is rare). I currently have a 330 MB SCSI
drive connected to my IIgs, which is divided up into eight 
ProDOS partitions (32 MB each) and the remainder one large HFS
partition (72 MB in size). That gives me plenty of space.
