     Interesting! So far, you and Bruce, both experienced IIe users, say 
that the problem is a stuck key. That's a pretty strong indicator that my 
analysis could be dead wrong (especially since it's just based upon a 
look at the IIe schematic). Serious checking for a stuck key (diddling 
keys, etc.) looks like a very good idea.
