GraphicWriter III trouble...
HELP!
Okay, first of all I am aware that what I really need to do is UPGRADE TO
2.0. And I fully intend to do that, but for the moment I have to deal
with 1.3 or whatever it is. Here is the problem...
I have a 3-page document with several graphics. As I was adding the last
graphic this afternoon, I ran out of memory. Well, that is not
unexpected; the machine at work only has 1.25Mb memory. So I saved the
file and went home.
When I got home, I stuck the floppy into the drive, launched GW3 on my
5.25Mb machine, and tried to load the file. So far, so good. But
everytime I attempt to do anything with the file, my machine hangs. It
can't possibly be running out of memory...as I said, the file was created
on a 1.25Mb machine; now I am trying to use a 5.25Mb machine.
Am I running afoul of one of a known bug where the program will trash
files when it runs out of memory? Is the real solution to buy a memory
card for the office and a GraphicWriter upgrade?
Any advice or comments welcome!
Incidentally, until the file crashed on me, it was working really well.
The graphics are frame-grabs that were captured on a Macincrash Quadra
660AV, dithered down to monochrome screens with PhotoShop, then imported
(via the MacPaint importer) into GW3. Those monochrome graphics are
perfect for my application, since I need to be able to do clean
photocopies and thermal transparencies. Then it all prints out on an HP
DeskJet 1600CM, which speaks PostScript so that I can use the LaserWriter
print driver. I just love using that reclaimed GS at work to do the
'impossible'... 8-)
