I've used audio, video, and //e, //c, ][+ monitor cables
interchangably. They all work fine--you can go to Radioshack, etc.
and get short cables (all ya need is about 3/4ths of a foot, right?),
and split the pair down the middle (usually you end up with cables for
left & right speakers), and voila, two monitor cables. If you want to
get REALLY cheap, get some tape and some scrap wire, and strip the
wire ends, and tape the end of one wire (so there's metal touching
metal) to the outside part of the //e'c RCA-type jack, and so another
wire's end (so there's metal touching metal) to the little hole inside
the jack. Make sure the 2 wires don't touch each other, or the wrong
part of the jack (where they're stripped, that is). Do the same to
the other ends of the wires, connecting "hole" to "hole" and "outer
part" to "outer part". If you've got blenders, dishwashers,
cyclotrons, TV stations, etc, nearby, you may get interference, or so
I guess. I lived in a rural area where I didn't get any. YMMV.
