Subject: SCSI HDs and Apple HS SCSI

<HTML>Anything special to getting a SCSI HD to work with an Apple HS SCSI
card? I currently have a Conner 80MB CP-3180 and tried partitioning a
Seagate ST-1480N and ST-31230N. Neither of the drives are recognized.
I've tried the Advanced Disk Utilities that comes on the SystemTools1
disk of 6.0.1 and the SCSI Utilities disk that came with the Apple
card. All they return are errors about not being able to read the
drive. Both drives are SCSI-2.

It is posible that the HS SCSI card that you have does not provide
termination power to the SCSI bus. I believe that one of the specs for
SCSI-2 drives is that they do not provide the power so that it must come
from somewhere else on the chain. One easy way to determine if this might
be the problem is to connect an older type drive on the chain and see if
the new drives are then accessable.

There is a way to modify the card to provide power. If that is what you
need to do and need instructions I might be able to find them here someplace.
