Do you mean the weirdo aux-RAM cards like RamWorks and Checkmate
MultiRAM?  8.4 supports 3.5" drives just fine, and it'll use that kind
of memory for 3.5" disk copying (assuming you've made it into a
RAMdisk?), along with the regular slinky kind of memory, AFAIK.  It
can also "crack" some 3.5"-based programs so they can be put on a HD.
9.1 probably has the ability to copy/"crack" different programs, but
it's a flinking bloated memory hog (for no reason, AFAICT).  About the
only feature that came back in 9.1 is the Disk Map feature.
