   I live in a universe where gender changers are readily available at
computing stores ($5-10 at local CompUSA), and a universe where people
only look at the pincount, and not the gender of the changer. Proof:
the start of this thread and many others in the past have many people
who mistook the //e's gameport for a serial connection. 

   True hardware geeks may care about pincount and gender, but most of
the public can only handle one thing: pincount. And therefore, the
engineers should take note of that if they don't want to confuse them.

   Overloading the uses of the 25-pin connector for parallel, Profile,
SCSI, and the like is another of Apple's faults, I'll agree.
