I've noticed some minor differences between this //e and my original machine.. 
The newer machines self test display is different and ends with "kernel ok" My 
original machine has the screen filled with alternating coloured squares and 
ends with "system ok" as well as my older machine having the white keys and 
large apples and this one having black keys and little apples. What other 
differences are there? in rom? The boards seem to be marked identically..

Any help greatly appreciated.


Your new machine is older than your older one! Well at least as far as the
ROM is concerned. The self test that ends with Kernel OK is the original
][e selftest. The machine that ends with system ok has the enhanced ROM in it. 
The white letter key caps were used for about a year of pf production of
the IIe series.
