Mac FST (HFS FST)

I have an Apple IIGS with System 6.0.1 and a 327 MB Hard drive. I have
divided it into seven partitians, with the last partition being over
130mb. Several times, I have come up with a strange partial crash. In
this carsh, I have no trouble reading from the Mac section, but when I
try to write, the computer either gives me a generic FST error, or goes
to the text screen flashing (slowly) "Detected trashed memory-software
bug or (less likely) bad RAM". Copying everything off the Mac parition,
chooseing "Initialize disk", then copying everything back fixes the
problem temperally. 

Is this problem fixed by the patch to the HFS FST, and do I need to once
again to copy everything off the Mac partition to for it to take effect?
