I found Nathan's comment about "twitch" games interesting. I always set up
a small number of Apple IIs at ComputerFest and I have period games running
on the older machines. Games like ChopLifter on a II+ and Air Heart on a IIe.
Until a few years ago we used to leave the joysticks out so kids could play
them. It was neat seeing kids enjoying games that were older than they were :)
Unfortunately we had to stop because too many kids were so abusive with the
joysticks there were shearing the axel pins off. ChopLifter started being more
frustrating than fun as the kids couldn't control the helicopter slamming the
joystick from one extreme to another. We even suffered a few broken keyboards
and mice with kids slamming their fists into them.
 
We still bring the computers and let the game demos run, but the joysticks
stay behind the table where they're safe. Too bad, it was more fun the
other way :/
