Any suggestions on how to cool a TWGS? After 15-20 mins the machine will
either completely lock up or dumps to monitor. Imeediately rebooting
usually gives me the checkerboard screen, if it actually boots I
sometimes get a really nasty RamFAST memory error and dumps to monitor.
Turn off the machine for a few minutes and let it cool off and it
reboots fine. I also suspect my power supply is a bit overwhelmed as
well (I have problems with Marinetti and the MacIP LL that might be
because of the SCC chip not getting the correct voltage, I have to test
with a meter). Here are the specs of the ROM 01 machine.
Slot 1: Grappler+
Slot 2: AE Audio Animator
Slot 3: TWGS
Slot 4&5: empty (one 3.5" drive on internal smart port)
Slot 6: RamFAST Rev D 3.01EZ
Slot 7: Apple 3.5" FDHD card with one drive attached
Mem: AE GS-RAM+ with full 6MB
The TWGS has an original AE 32k cache card, 1.8S ROM, Bill Shuff cable,
and the "new" 65816 currently clocked at 12Mhz. I do have crystal
oscillators of varying speeds I could use to test if needed. The problem
area seems to be the GALs. They get mighty toasty, even with a System
Saver GS. Running with the cover off doesn't seem to help too much
either, it runs for about 10 minutes more before crashing.
