Re: The perfect AppleIIgs
I'd suggest a 4 Mb RAM expansion fro Alltech electronics. You already have
a hard drive. I'd suggest a clean install of GSOS v6.0.1 and Six Pack from
Quality Computer (if they still sell it ) to add some spice to your
desktop. Deluxe Paint II for artwork, AppleWorks v3.0 or 5.0 for
productivity, Print Shop GS and the Companion for fun, GraphicWriter III
for page layouts, ProTerm or Spectrum for telecom, and a USR Sportster
modem (14.4 kb should be fine). If you really want to keep your GS and get
a PC you might want to invest in a Second Sight card which will let your
GS and PC share a SVGA monitor. At work that's exactly what I do. I still
use my trusty GS a lot and it sits on my desk next to a shiny new Sony
SVGA that it shares with a 133 MHz 486 mini tower that sits on the floor.
I won't spend a fortune on it, but a GS (and it's cousins) still have
their uses.

P.S. I did my graduate work and wrote my thesis on a GS. The final draft
was printed on a Mac, but my trusty GS did all the grunt work :)
