Well, when I was in high school, we had some Apple IIes that were as
described. When powered up, a "Please sign in" message would appear and
a user id and password were required. They were all somehow networked to
a hard drive that resembled an overgrown box for a video tape and an
ImmageWriter II. I believe the software was called E-land but it's been
several years since I was in that class. I do remember that we could
apparently access DOS 3.3 and ProDOS for during 1 semester, we were
accessing a DOS 3.3 partition to do BASIC and the next, we all were
assigned new accounts and were accessing a rather old version of
AppleWorks. This first class was called something like "Intro to
computers" and the second semester was called "Business Computer
applications.
